Southwestern Christian(13-7-2) stood tall against a very stubborn and persistent Sterling College(9-11-2). Both teams had 16 shots a piece but the Eagles had more shots on Goal than the Warriors did at 10-7. Sterling had more Saves and Corner Kicks than the Eagles, 5-3 for saves and 4-3 in Corner Kicks. It was really tough match on the pitch as 26 fouls had been committed and two yellow cards were issued, both were given to the Warriors. Jacobo Sanfeliu kept the Warriors in the game with four goals, he scored three of them with kicks inside the 18 yard box and scored another off a PK.
Victor Arias had two goals and two assist on the day and
Cameron Ashby, Damnjan Kojic, Paul Richter each had one goal a piece.
Damnjan Kojic and
Oliver Pardoe both had an assist on the day.
Nelson Bacalao had three saves on the day.
The Eagles opened up the game pretty quickly in the tenth minute with a great strike by
Damnjan Kojic to give the Eagles a one-nil lead,
Victor Arias got the assist on the play. Three minutes later in the 13th minute
Victor Arias would chip in a good volley by
Oliver Pardoe to push the Eagle lead to two-nil. In the 34th Minute Jacobo Sanfeliu scored his first goal on the day to cut the Eagles lead to one just before the Half, the Eagles continue to lead 2-1.
In the second Half, The Offenses for both sides broke loose, in the 54th minute
Victor Arias got his second goal to push the lead back to two, as the score is 3-1 Eagles,
Jeremiah Vidale got the assist on the goal. In the 57th minute
Paul Richter found the back of the net with a great header off a corner kick by
Damnjan Kojic to push the Eagle lead to 4-1. In the 64th minute Sterling would respond with a goal by Sanfeliu his second, to give cut into the lead, it was 4-2. In the 80th minute Sterling would get a chance to cut the lead to one with a PK shot off a SCU foul, again Sanfeliu finds away to keep the Warriors in the game, as he finds the back of the net, the score is now 4-3. Eagles In the 84th minute
Cameron Ashby would ice the game with a great strike, to make the lead 5-3,
Victor Arias would get the assist on the goal. Sterling would answer back with seven seconds left in the game, Sanfeliu would continue to be a thorn in the side of the SCU defensive line as he would find the back of the net for the fourth time today and would cut the lead back to one as the score now is 5-4.
Southwestern Christian will await its seeding as they will travel to Florida to compete in the NCCAA National tournament on November 29th through December 4th, as they look to go back to the NCCAA National Championship when the last time they decided to participate in the 2019 NCCAA tournament.
