Southwestern Christian University's athletic training staff is being recognized at the state level, as head athletic trainer Jordan Berry has been selected as the inaugural recipient of the Intercollegiate Council for Sports Medicine (ICSM) Excellence Award.

Berry will be honored on June 5, 2026, at the Oklahoma Athletic Trainers' Association Annual Meeting and Hall of Fame Dinner, held at the OSU Center for Health Sciences. The award marks the first of its kind from ICSM, recognizing outstanding dedication and impact within the athletic training profession at both the collegiate and state levels.

Serving as the Head Athletic Trainer at Southwestern Christian University, Berry has established herself as a leader in the care and development of student-athletes. She provides comprehensive athletic training services, including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play decisions for NAIA athletes. Her collaborative approach—working closely with coaches, physicians, and campus health professionals—ensures a well-rounded, athlete-centered standard of care.

In addition to her collegiate role, Berry extends her expertise to the professional ranks as an athletic trainer for the Oklahoma City Spark, where she oversees medical care for athletes during training, competition, and travel. Her dual roles highlight her ability to perform at a high level across both intercollegiate and professional athletics.

Berry remains committed to excellence in her field, maintaining Board of Certification (BOC) credentials and state licensure while actively pursuing continuing education. Her dedication to staying current with evidence-based practices and national standards reflects her passion for providing the highest level of care.

Beyond her daily responsibilities, Berry is also active in the local community, volunteering annually at the Oklahoma City Memorial Marathon to provide medical support for participants.

Colleagues describe Berry as a tireless worker and a selfless leader, known for stepping up in high-pressure situations and consistently supporting those around her. Her impact is felt not only by the athletes she serves but also by fellow staff and administrators who value her commitment and professionalism.

With her selection as the first-ever ICSM Excellence Award recipient, Berry's contributions to athletic training and her unwavering dedication to athlete well-being have earned her well-deserved recognition across the state of Oklahoma.
