Southwestern Christian men's basketball put together a strong effort but came up short in an 85–79 loss to Nelson University on Friday afternoon in Bethany, Oklahoma.
The Eagles were tied at 42 at halftime and stayed within striking distance throughout the second half against one of the SAC's top teams. SCU showed balanced scoring and resilience down the stretch but was unable to close the gap late.
Elijah Garcia led Southwestern Christian with 18 points, while Michal Wooldridge added 17 points. Jalen Goar finished with 12 points, and Kameron Burris chipped in nine. The Eagles also received solid bench production, totaling 31 points from their reserves.
SCU will look to build on the competitive performance as conference play continues.
