Southwestern Christian University women's basketball pushed Mid-America Christian to the final buzzer on Monday evening but came up just short in a 66–63 loss at the Gaulke Activity Center.
The Eagles were led by Kaydrin Scott, who turned in a strong all-around performance with 21 points, eight rebounds, four assists, and three steals while playing all 40 minutes. Scott consistently attacked the lane and kept SCU within striking distance throughout the contest.
Chrissen Harland added 19 points, knocking down three three-pointers and providing scoring spurts in each half. Jayden Mason filled the stat sheet with eight points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists, anchoring the Eagles on both ends of the floor.
SCU held the lead for much of the middle quarters, including a nine-point advantage in the third, as Carmella Jefferson chipped in six points and two assists, while Shak Gladness added six points and seven rebounds off the bench. The Eagles also outscored MACU in the second and third quarters, showing strong execution and defensive intensity.
Despite multiple late lead changes in the fourth quarter, MACU closed the game at the free-throw line in the final seconds. SCU had a chance to tie in the closing moments but couldn't convert at the buzzer.
Southwestern Christian will look to carry the momentum from this hard-fought performance into its next matchup as conference play continues.
