Story Links

BETHANY, Okla. — The Southwestern Christian University men's basketball team honored its seniors Saturday afternoon before hosting Wayland Baptist University in its home finale. Despite a competitive effort, the Eagles fell 87-61 inside Pickens-Springer Gymnasium.

Prior to tipoff, SCU recognized its seniors in a special ceremony alongside family and friends, celebrating their dedication and impact on the program. The afternoon marked the final home appearance for the group in an Eagles uniform.

Wayland Baptist opened the contest shooting efficiently, building a 45-30 lead at halftime. The Pioneers capitalized on transition opportunities and interior scoring, finishing the game shooting 57.9 percent from the field and recording 48 points in the paint.

SCU was led by JaColby Williams with 12 points, including two three-pointers. Jalen Goar added 10 points and four assists, while Michal Wooldridge recorded nine points and five rebounds. Elijah Garcia provided a spark off the bench with 10 points, and Jordun Willard contributed five points and four boards.

The Eagles showed resilience in the second half, knocking down seven three-pointers after the break. Cole Allen and Dason Cook connected from beyond the arc as SCU continued to battle throughout the final 20 minutes.

Though the outcome did not fall in their favor, the day served as a meaningful tribute to the seniors who have invested in the program both on and off the court. Their leadership and commitment have helped shape the culture of SCU men's basketball.

Southwestern Christian will now turn its focus to the remainder of the season as conference play continues.
