Eagles Pull Away Late to Secure 60–47 Win Over OPSU

BETHANY, Okla. — The women's basketball team at Southwestern Christian University turned in a strong all-around performance Wednesday evening, defeating Oklahoma Panhandle State University 60–47 at home in SAC action.

Southwestern Christian set the tone early, holding OPSU to just six points in the opening quarter to build a 14–6 advantage. The Eagles maintained control throughout the first half and carried a 28–21 lead into the locker room behind steady defense and balanced scoring.

The third quarter proved decisive, as SCU outscored the Aggies 18–14 to extend the margin to double digits. The Eagles continued to apply pressure defensively, forcing turnovers and limiting second-chance opportunities while consistently getting to the free-throw line.

Chrissen Harland led the way for Southwestern Christian with 17 points, knocking down key three-pointers and converting at the line. Kaydrin Scott posted a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds, controlling the glass on both ends of the floor. Carmella Jefferson added 11 points and four assists, while Shak Gladness provided a big lift off the bench with 12 points and nine rebounds.

SCU sealed the win in the fourth quarter by going 10-of-14 from the free-throw line, preventing OPSU from mounting a late comeback. The Eagles also finished with a rebounding edge, helping limit the Aggies to 37.5 percent shooting for the game.

With the victory, Southwestern Christian improved to 10–13 overall and 7–12 in conference play, continuing to build momentum as the season moves forward.
