PLAINVIEW, Texas – Southwestern Christian battled on the road Thursday night but fell 60–54 to Wayland Baptist in a tightly contested conference matchup.
The Eagles were locked in early, ending the first quarter tied at 12–12 and trailing just 24–22 at halftime. A strong third quarter by the Pioneers created separation, but SCU responded with a late push, outscoring Wayland Baptist 22–18 in the fourth.
Kaydrin Scott led all scorers with 25 points and 11 rebounds, anchoring the Eagles on both ends of the floor. Alexus Roberson added 11 points, while SCU forced 18 turnovers and scored 32 points in the paint.
Despite the late comeback attempt, Wayland Baptist closed the game at the free-throw line. SCU moves to 8–7 overall and 5–6 in conference play and will look to carry its fourth-quarter momentum into the next contest.
