PLAINVIEW, Texas – The Southwestern Christian University men's basketball team showed fight on the road but came up short in a tough conference matchup against Wayland Baptist on Saturday night.
The Eagles stayed competitive early, matching Wayland Baptist's pace through the opening half while working to generate offense against a physical Pioneer defense. SCU continued to battle in the second half, making defensive stops and looking to cut into the deficit, but Wayland Baptist was able to maintain control down the stretch.
Southwestern Christian had balanced contributions across the lineup and worked aggressively on the glass, while also creating opportunities in transition. Despite several momentum swings, the Eagles were unable to close the gap late.
SCU will look to build on the effort as conference play continues, using the road experience to prepare for upcoming matchups.
