Grapevine, Texas – May 19, 2025 — Southwestern Christian's softball team wrapped up a hard-fought contest on Monday afternoon but fell just short in a 6–4 loss to Sterling College at the Oak Grove Softball Complex.
The Lady Eagles (29–27) came out swinging, taking a 1-0 lead in the first inning thanks to an RBI double from L. Cahwee. After falling behind 3-1 through two innings, they rallied in the third with back-to-back run-scoring plays by H. Elam and S. Gladness to tie the game at 3.
Southwestern regained the lead in the sixth when T. Norwood delivered an RBI single, driving in pinch runner K. Horton to make it 4–3. Norwood also had two stolen bases on the day, leading a scrappy baserunning effort.
However, Sterling (36–17) answered quickly in the bottom half, sparked by a solo home run from D. Perales. The Warriors plated three runs in the inning, capitalizing on timely hits and a key walk to take a 6–4 lead they would not relinquish.
Pitcher J. Czikra (13–9) was tagged with the loss despite a solid outing through five-plus innings. Offensively, Cahwee led the way with two hits, and Elam and Gladness each added RBIs.
Southwestern Christian now looks ahead to regroup as postseason play looms, knowing they were just a few key plays away from a statement win.
