Goodwell, Okla. -
Game 3
The Eagles and Aggies took the field for Day 2 today, but the Aggies were the ones to dominate on their home turf. Game 3 went into extra innings, with the Aggies taking the match in the eighth, despite a strong offensive performance from the Eagles.
Lauren Schallert and
Jessica Czikra both pitched for the Eagles, with Schallert throwing four complete innings and Czikra going for three and one/third. Both gave up six hits and walked three as the Aggies scored five against Schallert and four against Czikra. The Eagles had another two-triple day offensively, with
Holly Elam and
Jess Moralez both smashing one each, while
Trinity Norwood tagged a double herself. Elam had a team-leading 3 RBI total, with Norwood and Moralez both behind her with 2 each.
Lexi Cahwee had one RBI and one run, as multiple Eagles batters picked up one hit in the eight-inning contest. Although the game ended in a loss, the Eagles could take the final game if they cleaned up errors in the field.
Game 4
In the series finale, the Eagles fell to OPSU 8-3. Despite 13 hits, the Eagles were unable to fully capitalize, having to play catch-up from the first inning.
Maliyah Patton went 3-4 from the leadoff spot, scoring once, as
Lexi Cahwee,
Madison Jones,
Danielle Burleson, and
Kelsie McCollom all had two hits each throughout the order.
Holly Elam found the team's sole RBI, highlighting the difficulties the lineup had with leaving runners on base.
Lainey King threw six complete innings for the Eagles, allowing all nine hits while striking out two and walking four.
At the conclusion of the regular season, the Eagles sit at a record of 26-22 (17-19). The squad next takes on the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament, where their first round will be against Mid-America Christian University.
