KISSIMMEE, Fla. — Southwestern Christian Women's Soccer has officially punched its ticket to the NCCAA National Championship match for the first time in program history, capping off a landmark performance with a 2–0 victory over Houghton University on Thursday at the Austin-Tindall Sports Complex.
The Eagles delivered one of the strongest postseason showings in school history, controlling tempo early and striking twice in the opening half. Sofia Jimenez put SCU on the board in the 31st minute, finishing a clean opportunity to seize the momentum. Just eight minutes later, Shosona Graham buried another goal to extend the lead to 2–0, giving SCU an advantage it would protect the rest of the way.
SCU's defense remained firm all afternoon, anchored by goalkeeper Lorelai Puglisi, who recorded five saves to secure the shutout. The Eagles also generated steady pressure on the attacking end, out-shooting Houghton 14–12 and matching them with four corner kicks each.
With the win, Southwestern Christian (13-6-2) advances to the NCCAA National Championship match, marking the first title-game appearance in program history and one of the biggest milestones ever achieved by SCU women's soccer.
The Eagles will now prepare for the biggest stage of their season as they look to bring home a national championship to Bethany.
