OKLAHOMA CITY — Southwestern Christian University's men's soccer season came to an end Tuesday night with a 3-0 loss to Mid-America Christian in the opening round of the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament at Dill Soccer Field.
The Eagles (7-5-5) struggled to find offensive rhythm early as the Evangels struck first in the ninth minute when Josh Macklin scored off assists from Diego Sano and Matias Garcia. Despite a few solid defensive stops from goalkeeper Enzo Camps, who tallied five saves on the night, SCU went into halftime trailing 1-0.
Mid-America Christian (8-7-4) extended its lead in the second half, scoring twice within two minutes. Haruya Higuchi netted the Evangels' second goal in the 55th minute, followed by a score from Jimmy Cabrera moments later off another Macklin assist to make it 3-0.
Southwestern Christian managed five shots in the match, including two on goal from Otavio Avila, but couldn't break through against MACU goalkeeper Dante Caffaro, who earned the clean sheet with two saves.
The loss ends a competitive season for the Eagles, who earned a postseason berth in the SAC Tournament and recorded several strong showings throughout the year.
