Bethany, Okla. — Southwestern Christian University women's basketball delivered a statement performance in its Sooner Athletic Conference opener, powering past Oklahoma City University 77–56 on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Eagles controlled the matchup from start to finish, improving to 4–1 overall and 1–0 in SAC play.
SCU set the tone early with a strong first quarter, holding OCU to just eight points while building a 17–8 advantage. The Eagles maintained that intensity throughout the game, dominating the rebounding battle 48–33 and overwhelming the Stars with 54 points in the paint.
Chrissen Harland led the charge with an impressive 23 points, six rebounds, and two steals, knocking down key shots and attacking the lane. Kaydrin Scott added a powerful performance of her own, finishing with 16 points, eight rebounds, and four steals as she repeatedly broke through the OCU defense.
SCU's bench provided a major spark as well. Carmella Jefferson contributed 11 points and six rebounds, while Shak Gladness pulled down nine boards and added seven points. The SCU reserves outscored OCU's bench 26–22, keeping the pressure steady throughout the afternoon.
On the perimeter, Jayden Mason guided the offense with four assists and five points, while Brooke Robertson, Alexus Roberson, and Taylor Meyners delivered solid minutes to sustain SCU's rhythm on both ends of the floor.
SCU shot an efficient 47% from the field, while its defensive effort forced 19 turnovers and held the Stars to just 31% shooting.
With a decisive 21-point win in their SAC opener, the Lady Eagles continue to build momentum heading into the heart of conference play. SCU will return to action next week as they look to extend their strong early-season run.
