Bethany, Okla. — Southwestern Christian men's basketball opened Sooner Athletic Conference play on Saturday afternoon but couldn't overcome a dominant offensive performance from Oklahoma City University, falling 85–63 at home. SCU moves to 2–2 on the season and 0–1 in conference play.
The Eagles shot the ball well, finishing at 48% from the field and 36% from beyond the arc, but turnovers and OCU's red-hot shooting made it difficult for SCU to sustain momentum. The Stars hit 51% from the floor and converted 25 points off turnovers, creating separation early and maintaining control throughout.
SCU received balanced scoring from its starting unit. Michal Wooldridge led the Eagles with 14 points, going a perfect 2-of-2 from deep while adding two rebounds and an assist. JaColby Williams and Lukas Wooldridge each added 11 points, with Lukas knocking down three three-pointers and JaColby providing strong perimeter defense and three assists. Jalen Goar added seven points, three steals, and played a key role in SCU's transition game. Aiden Todd contributed two points but provided valuable play making, finishing with a team-high three assists. Off the bench, Jordun Willard gave SCU a spark with eight points and five rebounds, while Kameron Burris, Jonah Jenkins, and Augustine Ch. each chipped in key minutes.
Despite the loss, the Eagles showed flashes—especially in the second half, where SCU shot an impressive 62% from the field and continued to fight back against OCU's pressure. However, the Stars' efficiency and physicality on the glass (36–30 rebounding edge) kept SCU from making a sustained run.
SCU looks to bounce back as conference play continues, aiming to clean up turnovers and build on the offensive rhythm shown throughout the second half.
