Southwestern Christian Draws 1-1 with Nelson in Road Match
WAXAHACHIE, Texas — Southwestern Christian men's soccer battled to a 1-1 draw against Nelson (Texas) on Tuesday afternoon, keeping their strong start to the season alive.
After a scoreless first half, Nelson struck first in the 61st minute when Teddy Nkamanyi found the net off an assist from Alejandro Herrera. Southwestern Christian answered back in the 81st minute as Vinicuius Cruz scored the equalizer, assisted by Romeo De Stefano.
The Eagles outshot Nelson 12-7, with Cruz and Shonosuke Suzuki each putting pressure on goal. Goalkeeper Enzo Camps made one save in the match.
The result moves Southwestern Christian to 6-1-2 overall and 1-0-1 in conference play, while Nelson drops to 5-3-2 and 0-1-1 in league competition.
Southwestern Christian will look to continue its momentum as it returns to action later this week.
