KANAS CITY, M.O. – One year after falling in the NCCAA Baseball National Championship Series, the Eagles won their first Baseball National Championship on Wednesday, May 22 in Kansas City Missouri, after beating the number 1 seed Oakland City back to back.
Game 1
SCU scored a run in the bottom of the second inning but then scored 6 runs in the fourth when
Zane Bandfield,
Joey Thornton, and
Draike Sparks all doubled leaving the score to be 7-2.
Jake Cox made a very impressive sliding catch in centerfield and then would come up to bat the next inning with a 2 RBI double pushing the lead to 10-2. Oakland City would try to fight back but would come up score scoring 4 runs finishing out the game with a final score of 10-6.

Game 2
The Eagles would strike first in the championship game when
Matys Gagnon would get a RBI single to get the game started. The Oaks would score 5 runs to take the lead 5-1. But a single from Joesph Boone and a pair of runs in the seventh would put the Eagles down by 1.
Tyler Reeves would drive in the tying run in eighth inning and would later on be the winning run when
Dario Paredes would drive him in with a RBI double to centerfield. The Mighty Oaks threatened in the ninth, but
Matt Gamblin was able to force a ground ball to end the game, and SCU Eagles would become the NATIONAL CHAMPIONS for the first time.
