The Southwestern Christian University Eagles and the McPherson College Bulldogs duked it out in Day 2 of the weekend matchup, with both teams winning once to split the weekend two games to two.
Â
Game 1: SCU 9 - 2 MCP
Â
Joseph Boone kicked off the scoring early with a monstrous 3-run blast in the second inning, followed up by singles from Joey Thornton and Draike Sparks, which tacked on two more runs. In the third inning, Boone would pick up another RBI, and a fifth run later scored when the Eagles used an early steal to draw the attention away from Phoenix Nelson at third. McPherson would grab two runs off a home run in the fourth and double in the fifth, but were not able to keep up with the SCU offense, especially after RBIs from Jake Cox and Zane Bandfield late in the game. Henry Ogando picked up his second win of the season (2-0) with 11 strikeouts, only giving up four hits and 1 walk.

SCU again grabbed an early lead over the Bulldogs, this time with a 2-run home run by Dario Paredes in the first inning, an RBI single by Draike Sparks in the second, and another RBI single in the third by Joey Thornton. The Bulldogs answered back with two runs in the fourth before exploding for five runs in the fifth inning. Another RBI single from Sparks cut into the Bulldogs lead, but a pair of RBI doubles from McPherson in the sixth were too much for the Eagles to overcome, with the SCU lineup only being able to add one more run off a Kyler Ayres RBI in the bottom of the seventh. Ariel Tejada started on the mound for the Eagles and went 4.1 innings, striking out seven batters but giving up six hits and four walks.Â
