SCU goes 2-1 in NCCAA Pool Play

Kansas City,MO.-- Southwestern Christian(38-17, 18-14 SAC) finished the World Series Pool Play 2-1 taking Game one over Paine College 8-1, then losing in heartbreaking fashion to Arlington Baptist 3-4, but on Day two in Game three Eagles come from behind Walk-off win in extra innings to beat Concordia (MI.) 6-5. Eagles have a chance to advance to their first ever NCCAA World series semifinal in program history.

Game 1: vs Paine College (W 8-1)
Southwestern Christian would open the scoring in the first scoring two runs on Lion Errors that scored Hannah Keele and Megan Vess in the inning to go up 2-0. Then in the second SCU would add an insurance run after a Keele Triple to right center and in the next play would score on a throwing error by Paine College to go up 3-0. In the third, Addison Hanna would hit a two run bomb over right to extend the Eagles to 5-0. Paine College would cut into the Eagles lead with one run to make it a 5-1 ball game but Going into the bottom of the fourth, the Eagles would tack two more runs on the scoreboard off a Megan Vess two run bomb over center to give SCU the 7-0 lead. In the fifth, SCU would add one run after a Maliyah Patton triple to left center and two plays later would score on a Alys Parr single to make it 8-1 over the Lions and Harli Clem would come into pitch in the sixth and shut the door on Paine throwing 2 IP, 0 H, 0 Er, 2 Ks 7 BF. Lauren Schallert would get the dub for the Eagles pitching staff moving to 18-4 on the season.

Game 2: vs Arlington Baptist (L 3-4)
Southwestern Christian would get on the board first off a Bases loaded walk to score Hannah Keele to go up 1-0. Arlington Baptist would strike back in their half of the first with two runs to go up 2-1 over SCU. The Game would pretty quickly with three up and three down going all the way to fourth where SCU would tie on a Lexie Smith sac fly to right center to plate Holly Elam to make it a 2-2 ball game. SCU would take the lead in the fifth on Megan Vess single that would score Keele to make it 3-2. Arlington Baptist would break SCU hearts on a walk off two-run homerun to beat SCU 4-3.

Game 3: vs Concordia (MI.) (W 6-5, 9 Innings)
Southwestern Christian would strike the first blow in the second on a double by Holly Elam that scored Jessie Moralez to give SCU the 1-0. Concordia would strike in the fourth with two runs to take a 3-1 lead, and would add two insurance runs in the fifth to give themselves a 5-1 lead heading into the sixth. SCU would not be done though, in the bottom of the sixth Jessie Moralez would hit a three-run bomb over left center to cut the Cardinal lead to one at 5-4, and in the next at-bat Megan Vess would tie the game on solo bomb over right center to make it a 5-5 ball game. Neither team could plate any runs in the seventh and we would head into extra innings and nobody would score in the eighth. In the ninth Madison Jones would call game with a single to shallow left to bring home Hannah Keele to win the game 6-5 to complete the Comeback win in extra innings to beat Concordia and move to 2-1 in Pool Play and will await the Final of ABU and Paine College.
