SCU wins the series over OPSU

Bethany Okla,.— Southwestern Christian(23-20, 6-14 SAC) beat Oklahoma Panhandle State two out of three games this weekend.

Game 1: Friday-4/22/22

The Eagles opened up the scoring in the bottom of the second when Joseph Boone reached on an Error scoring Mitchell Bryant. The next pitch Boone steals second and Erasmo Mavarez scores on the throw to second base. SCU would continue their explosive offensive in the third inning when they would score a run after a couple of singles and then a pass ball by OPSU. Bottom of the 4th inning Boone would single to right field scoring Mavarez from third base. The next batter was Jabes turner, He would doubt to right field scoring Boone. The Eagles would continue their hot streak scoring 4 more runs after Mavarez hits a 2 run RBI and then Freilin Cabrera hits a 2RBI single. OPSU would score 1 run in the 6th inning and that is the only run of the game for them. Gabriel Figuero would have a great day on the mount going a complete game, 5 hits, 5 Strikeouts, 1 Walk.

Game 2: Friday-4/22/22

The Aggies would open the scoring in the top of the first when they would put together a couple of singles and a double to make the score 4 to 0 after the first inning. SCU would bounce back a little in the second inning scoring 1 run. The Eagles would have a big inning in the 5th scoring 5 runs. Kyler Ayres hits a single to right field scoring Turner. Next batter Nick Smith hits a rocket out to right center scoring 3 runs and get a stand up double. Zane Bandfield is the next batter and he hits a single to right field scoring Smith from second base. SCU would win this game 7 to 4.

Game 3: Sat-4/23/22

Southwestern Christian would score 1 run each in the first and second inning of the game but that would be the only offensive on the day for them. Nick Smith would single to left field scoring Jhors Gomez and then Freilin Cabrera would single to right field scoring Jabes Turner. OPSU came out swinging the sticks in this game scoring 8 runs off of 11 hits.

The Eagles move to 23-21 on the year and 6-15 in SAC conference play. SCU returns to action on Tuesday against the Bacone Warriors.
