Lady Eagles fall just short of knocking down SAC powerhouse Langston

Bethany,OK,--Southwestern Christian(9-7, 4-6 SAC) came up short against the Lady Lions 68-73 after coming back 11 down in the final two minutes to pull within one, on two different occasions both times the Lady Eagles fell short of striking Gold and getting the upset. Langston shot 24-54 from the field averaging 44%, 7-21 from the three averaging 33% and shot 18-25 from the free throw line averaging 72%. Langston's Asheika Alexander had 22 points. The Lady Eagles 12 forced turnovers resulting in 4 points. Tresha Yager and Abbey Phibbs both pick up steals on the night

Southwestern Christian shot relatively well tonight, The Lady Eagles shot 23-51 from the floor  averaging 45%. SCU shot 8-20 from three (40%) and from the free throw line shot 14-19 (78%). Thamires Andrade led the Lady Eagles in points tonight with a Season-High 29 pts. The Lady Eagles Out-Rebounded the Lady Lions 35-28, The Eagles had 8 offensive rebounds and scored 8 second chance points, Thamires Andrade finished the night with 11 Rebs. The bench contributed 11 points to the effort, Lauren Masquat came off the bench hot, shooting 2-2 from three, her only shots of the game and she made them count, cutting into the Langston Lead late in the game, she finished the game with 6 pts. The Eagles had 10 assist in the game, Thamires Andrade finished the night with 4. Surprisingly the Lady Eagles only finished with 24 pts in the paint, which is usually the strong point of their offense.

The Senior Thamires Andrade had a big Offensive night with 11-18 shooting, 3-5 from three and 4-8 from the Free Throw Line. She finished the game with a new Season-High in scoring and for the third time this year getting Back-to-Back Double-Double's and this was her 8th Double-Double on the year, Her Final stat line is 29 pts, 11 Rebs,and 4 Ast. Junior Tresha Yager also contributed to the Offensive effort with 3-9 shooting from the field, Her Final stat line was 11 pts, 3 Rebs,and 1 Stl. Lauren Wade finished with 9 pts and 7 Rebs.

The Lady Eagles will return to action at Home, Saturday, January 15th, in Pickens-Springer Gymnasium at 2:00 PM against the Central Christian Lady Tigers(1-16, 0-10 SAC) in another Sooner Athletic Conference matchup.
